Do you live in the U.S.? Do you want to buy a smartphone but don’t know what to buy? Here is the second edition of Gadget Porn’s Smartphone Buying Guide Flowchart, for November 2010.
Notes:
This is for higher-end smartphones. Each of the carriers has other, low- and mid-range smartphones that may suit you just fine (HTC Aria on AT&T, the Motorola Devour on Verizon, etc.). However, the ones in the guide are faster and larger (in screen size and/or resolution), and they look better.
This guide will be accurate starting Monday, when AT&T and T-Mobile start selling Windows Phone 7 devices.
Phones that have not been released have a note added to them (Samsung Continuum, Motorola Droid Pro, Dell Venue Pro, etc.)
If you’re just looking for a basic smartphone with a really cheap data plan, take a look at the T-Mobile Comet. Currently free with a 2-year contract and you can add T-Mobile’s new $10/month data plan for 200MB ($15/month without a contract extension). It runs the latest version of Android, too (Froyo).
If you are on U.S. Cellular, just pick between the Samsung Mesmerize, HTC Desire, or BlackBerry Bold 9650. If you’re on Cellular South, get the Desire.
